This article explains how to formally cancel your VPS subscription, how the notice period works, and how to retain your data using snapshots.
Important distinction:
Stopping (shutting down) your server via the dashboard is not the same as cancelling it.
A stopped server still reserves dedicated resources (IP address, storage, RAM) on our platform and will continue to be billed. To stop the billing, you must follow the cancellation steps below.

1. How to cancel a VPS
- Log in to the MyTilaa Dashboard.
- Click on VPS and select the server you wish to terminate.
- Navigate to the Status tab.
- Under the section Subscription status, click the link to cancel your server.
2. Notice Period
Your cancellation notice period is directly linked to your chosen billing cycle (the period for which you are invoiced).
- For example: If you are billed monthly, your cancellation will be processed effectively at the end of the current monthly term.
The server remains active until the end date, after which it is automatically removed and data is permanently deleted.
3. Changed your mind? (Abort Cancellation)
If you have scheduled a cancellation but decide to keep the server, you can undo this process before the end date is reached.
- Go back to the Status tab of your VPS.
- In the Subscription Status box, click on Abort Cancellation.
4. Tip: Keep data without the server cost
Do you want to stop paying for the CPU/RAM of an active server, but keep the data for later use?
- Create a Snapshot of your server before cancelling.
- You can then cancel the VPS. You will only pay the (much lower) storage fee for the snapshot.
- When you need the server again later, you can simply order a new VPS and deploy it from that saved snapshot.
