No. Due to strict Microsoft licensing regulations for cloud infrastructure, you cannot bring your own license (BYOL) for the Windows Server Operating System.
The SPLA Requirement
Tilaa operates under the Microsoft Services Provider License Agreement (SPLA). This agreement mandates that the underlying Windows Server license for any VPS on our shared hardware platform must be provided, reported, and managed by us.
Attempting to activate a Tilaa VPS with your own Retail (OEM) or Volume License key is a violation of Microsoft's Terms of Service.
Why is this required?
Standard Windows licenses are designed for on-premise hardware. In a public cloud environment, the licensing model shifts to a "per-core" rental model (SPLA). This ensures you are always compliant with Microsoft's audit requirements without needing to manage the OS license keys yourself.
Exception: Application Licensing
While the Operating System license must be provided by Tilaa, you are often allowed to bring your own licenses for software running on top of Windows (such as Microsoft SQL Server, Exchange, or SharePoint).
This requires License Mobility through Software Assurance. Please check your specific license terms with Microsoft to see if your application licenses are eligible for cloud deployment.
