Tilaa operates its own fully independent Autonomous System (AS196752). We do not rely on third-party networks to route your traffic; we manage the entire path from your VPS to the internet backbone.
1. Core Routing Hardware
At the heart of our network, we utilize high-performance Juniper MX Series 3D Universal Edge Routers.
- Capacity: These routers are designed for massive scale, capable of handling terabits of traffic per second.
- Redundancy: Just like our switches, our core routers are deployed in redundant pairs per location. If a router fails, BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) automatically reroutes traffic within milliseconds.
2. Redundant Backbone (The Ring)
Our datacenters in Haarlem and Amsterdam are not isolated islands. They are interconnected via a private, redundant dark fiber ring.
- Cross-Site Resilience: If the external internet connection in Haarlem were to fail completely, traffic would automatically be routed internally via the fiber ring to Amsterdam and exit to the internet there.
- Low Latency: This direct connection ensures that traffic between your servers in different Tilaa locations stays on our own network, guaranteeing minimal latency (<2ms).
3. Upstream Connectivity (Carriers & Peering)
To ensure your data reaches the end-user via the shortest and fastest path, we use a blend of Transit and Peering.
Tier-1 Transit Providers
We buy bandwidth from the world's largest carriers to guarantee global reachability:
- Tata Communications
- Telia Carrier (Arelion)
Internet Exchanges (Peering)
Instead of sending local traffic via expensive international carriers, we connect directly to other networks (like ISPs and content providers) via major Internet Exchanges:
- AMS-IX (Amsterdam Internet Exchange)
- NL-ix (Netherlands Internet Exchange)
