The Tilaa network is designed with a single goal: Maximum Uptime. We eliminate single points of failure by fully creating redundant paths at every level of the infrastructure.
1. Rack-Level Redundancy (Access)
The physical host running your VPS is never dependent on a single cable or switch.
- Dual Uplinks: Every server is connected via two active network cables.
- Dual Switches: These cables connect to two separate Juniper EX-series access switches. If one switch fails (or reboots for updates), the other takes over traffic instantly without connection loss.
- Redundant Power: All switches are equipped with dual power supplies connected to separate A+B power feeds.
2. Core Technology (Virtual Chassis)
To manage this redundancy efficiently, we utilize Juniper's Virtual Chassis technology.
This allows multiple physical switches in a Point of Delivery (POD) to function as a single logical device. They are interconnected via a massive 128 Gbps backplane. This ensures that internal traffic (e.g., between your VPS and our storage cluster) is processed at lightning speed.
Our High Availability NFS storage platform connects to this backbone with dual 10 GbE (10 Gigabit) uplinks per node, ensuring that disk I/O never becomes a network bottleneck.
3. Security (Out-of-Band Management)
Security is embedded in our network design through strict separation of traffic.
- Public Network: Handles internet and server-to-server traffic.
- Management Network: We use a completely physically separated network for provisioning and managing the hardware (IPMI/KVM).
This "Out-of-Band" setup ensures that management traffic can never interfere with your customer traffic, and external attackers cannot reach the management interfaces of our infrastructure.
