DirectAdmin offers a handy tool called Custombuild.
This script package allows DirectAdmin users to install and upgrade services like Apache, PHP, and MySQL from a central place. A good explanation of this tool can be found on: https://forum.directadmin.com/showthread.php?t=29824
If you wish to update software in DirectAdmin you can follow the steps provided below:
1) # cd /usr/local/directadmin/custombuild (Change to the working directory)
2) # ./build update (This command verifies if new updates are available)
3) # ./build versions (This command will provide a list of packages that are installed or need an update)
4) # ./build update_versions (This command will compile the newly selected software and make sure it's installed, this process might take some time)
By default Custom Build version 1.2 is installed on your server. You can upgrade to Custombuild version 2.0 to receive more up-to-date software versions, instructions can be found on http://help.directadmin.com/item.php?id=555
